Pinterest in the Classroom

Pinterest can be used in so many ways in the classroom!
For example, Pinterest can be used to get inspiration for decorating your classroom, get ideas for projects, learn how to get crafty, and tools to help organize your classroom. The possibilities are endless! Pinterest is also full of lesson plans that are easily accessible. Not only can teachers benefit from Pinterest, but students can as well! Students can find great examples of projects and studying tools that will help them increase test scores. All in all, Pinterest will be of great use in a teachers classroom! As a teacher you can assign homework to be completed on Pinterest. For example, an assignment you could assign is to have students photo journal. Have students write a story and then create photos that capture his or her story. The student will then upload the assignment to Pinterest. What a fun way to be creative!

Here is an activity I created for Pinterest. In this activity students will learn how to stay organized and learn literary terms in a fun and creative way! I posted a link to the activity for easy access!

I created this assignment for my Educational Technology Class, but I am very glad that I did because I will benefit from it! I learned that there are creative ways to study definitions rather than just looking them up in a dictionary. This will help students have fun while studying!

Step 1.  Get at least three sheets of paper. Some students prefer colored paper, but plain notebook or computer paper will be fine.
Step 2. Place the first sheet of paper vertically on a flat surface.

Step 3. Place the second sheet of paper vertically on top of the first sheet of paper. *Leave about an inch of the first sheet of paper showing at the bottom. This is very important so that you will have enough room to write each term along with the definition on the inside.

Step 4. Repeat step 3, but with a third sheet of paper. * Leave about an inch of the second sheet showing at the bottom.
Step 5. Fold all of the sheets over leaving about an inch of space between each sheet of paper. Finally, in order to create the fan you will need to staple the top of the fan where all of the folds meet.

Step 6. Now that your fan is complete you will need to write the term names on the outside flaps and the corresponding definitions on the inside of the flaps. Now you can begin studying your terms!
